The Sheraton Park project in Doha, Qatar, is an ambitious and high-profile undertaking, strategically positioned on the Corniche between the Sheraton Hotel and the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. This development is set to offer an iconic public space with a range of features designed to enhance both aesthetics and functionality for the city’s residents and visitors.

Key features of the project include
  1. Water-themed Features: The park will feature five water-themed elements, contributing to its distinctive design and enhancing the environment.
  2. Landscaping: A combination of hard and soft landscaping will include flowering trees and shrubs, creating a visually appealing and diverse environment.
  3. Children’s Play Area: A dedicated area for children to enjoy and interact with the park’s features.
  4. Sunken Gardens and Restaurants: Two sunken gardens with adjacent restaurants will provide serene spacesfor visitors to relax and dine.
  1. Car Park: The project includes a large underground car park with four levels, designed to accommodate up to2,664 vehicles.
  2. Traffic Tunnel: An underground connecting tunnel under the Corniche will help manage overflow traffic fromthe nearby Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
  3. Power Substation: A 66KV primary power substation will be integrated into the infrastructure.

The excavation for the project is extensive, covering an area of approximately 500m by 250m, with a total perimeter of around 1,270m. Excavation depths range from-3.5m QND to a maximum of-14.3m QND, with a deeper section covering a perimeter of 900m. The site’s excavation was supported by a shoring system, including contiguous piles, secant piles, and shotcrete & nails.

WJ Groundwater was responsible for installing a deep well dewatering system that effectively drained the excavation area, ensuring a smooth and efficient construction process. This project reflects a significant contribution to Doha’s urban landscape, combining modern infrastructure, public spaces, and environmental design.
